Could you think of the most dreadful, the most terrifying words that you could ever hear? As you search your thoughts; let’s turn to our Lord’s Word for the answer.

Depart from me

I do not know what your answer is; but my answer comes from my Lord and Savior. For He told us in His gospel as recorded by Matthew:

"Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."
(Matthew 7:22-23 KJV)

Can you imagine?

Can you imagine standing in eternity, before the King of Kings and Lord of Lords: and as you stand there, you watch as the fire is placed to your life.

"Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is." (1 Corinthians 3:13 KJV)

You watch as what sort of life you lived is revealed! And inside of you, you know, that our Lord knows, that you never worked in His name.

Played on His name

Instead, you played on His name! You claimed His name, testified in His name, prophesied in His name but you never knew Him. Just like the world, you said, “Jesus! Jesus! Jesus!” but you never knew Him.

You never repented for your sinful life, you never begged for our God’s mercy or to be washed by the blood of the lamb! You did not lay your sins at His Cross and you never reached out to grab Him by His feet!

While you were playing on His name; you forgot to acknowledge that He is the all sufficient Savior! Lord!! And Christ!!!

Your miserable life

Now, you are standing before Him, with the eyes of millions and billions on you. And all of you are watching, as your life is being burned up in the flame!

Again, you know that our Lord knows that He never knew you! All that is left to sum up your miserable life is the most horrible, dreadful, terrifying words that you could ever hear! “Depart from me, ye that work iniquity”

I do not know about you, but for me, these are words that I hope to never hear!

If you are reading this today and you do not know Christ as Lord; what are you waiting for? There is no peace in the life to come without Him! Regardless of whether you believe in Him or not; He stands at the end of the trail for you.

Confess and believe in the Lord Jesus as our precious brother Paul states:

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
(Romans 10:9-10 KJV)
