Do you ever think about those great saints who were martyred for Christ? Have you ever looked at history and thought about all of the blood that was shed in the name of Jesus. When is the last time that you thought about the price that the true Christians had to pay for the gospel that you benefit from today?

While you ponder, let us talk about some of them!

Martyred for Christ

All of history contains stories of those precious saints who would be martyred for Christ. Remember, Nathanael also known as Bartholomew? He was the precious saint who had the privilege of watching his flesh being peeled from his body. During his torment and torture, he would use his final words to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to his tormentors. Do you remember him?

Allen Gardiner

What about, Allen Gardiner? He would lead six men to a lost island to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost islanders. Remember, how his relief mission team, left him and his six companions to die on that island. While his relief team stayed safely at home, Allen and his six companions were succumbing to the elements of that deadly island.

Allen, would have to watch as each of those godly men; either disappeared, drowned or died of sickness or hunger. Before, he himself succumbed to the elements. Can you imagine being left to die on an island for the gospel of Jesus Christ!

Rather DIE than fail Christ

Do you recall the story of the precious saints; who would travel to the Amazon to preach the gospel to the islanders. Remember, how each one of those precious saints stood as the islanders hacked and chopped them to death.

Though they had the means to defend themselves, those saints could not kill any of those lost islanders. Why? Because to do so meant that they would send souls to hell and that would fail Christ!!! So each one of those men stood as the islanders chopped and hacked them to death.

Paul

Remember, Paul? He penned most of the New Testament, while in prison. He was stoned, beat, imprisoned, left stranded, he faced hunger and thirst for the gospel of Jesus Christ. A gospel that he had once worked so hard to destroy!

Christ would be magnified

Here, you and I sit, benefiting from the gospel that Paul was imprisoned for! He was writing to us, while being bound in chains! Though he was bound and suffered so; he did not fail to remind us that:

"For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." (Philippians 1:21 KJV)

Paul also said:

"According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death." (Philippians 1:20 KJV)

Paul said, “Whether in life or in death; Christ would be magnified”!

Christ is all we need

When is the last time that you said; “Christ is all I need”? Was it when everything else ran out; and Christ was all that you had left?

History is filled with saints who knew that, “Christ was all that they needed”!

Remember, them! They are“true Christians” and “true saints”!

The Saints

Remember the saints, whose blood was shed so that you can have a Bible that you rarely read!

Remember the saints, who went into the places where the inhabitants wanted Christ followers dead. Regardless, of what would happen to them, they established churches and most importantly of all; they preached the crucified Christ!!

Believer…

Here you sit, benefiting from the work that they did. As you hold on to your old life; while claiming you are a new creation in Christ.

Here you sit, thinking that you are living a marvelous Christian life; while in reality you are no better than the dying thief on the Cross.

Here you sit, taking for granted a life in Christ; while living on border line salvation!!

Non-believer

Here you sit, denying the gospel of Jesus Christ!
