The world contains so many “beliefs” regarding the “living God”. Some of the most common are: “God is love”, “he takes you as you are”, “in him no one is punished” and the majority’s favorite “there is no Hell; God would not send anyone to such a place”.

I am here to tell you that ALL of the above may be the characteristics of “some god” but they are not characteristics of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. For, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob created all things, He gives the breath and the soul to all inhabitants of the earth, He sent His only begotten Son to die for the sins of many and He have placed the final judgment of all of mankind in the hands of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The one true God, takes no one as they are! If He did; why would mankind need a Savior? While we ponder that; let’s turn to the Living Word of God and review some truths.

The Living God is the one True God

Our Father our God is the one true God; He is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He is the God of the LIVING not of the dead.

“Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.” - (Exodus 3:6 KJV)
“I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”- (Matthew 22:32 KJV)

Our Father our God

Our Father our God, created and spread out the heavens and the earth. He gives the breath and the Spirit to all of the inhabitants of the earth:

“Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:” - (Isaiah 42:5 KJV)

The Wrath of our God

For our God did not spare the angels who sinned but created a place of eternal torment for them:

“For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;” - ( 2 Peter 2:4 KJV)

This same place is a place of torment that enlarges itself to accept many sinful souls. Both the precious prophet Isaiah and the disciple Matthew records that:

"Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it." - ( Isaiah 5:14 KJV)
“Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:”- (Matthew 25:41 KJV)

We are all sinners

Our God does not take anyone as they are; for we are all sinners and need a Savior.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” - (Romans 3:23 KJV)

Because we have fallen short, our Father our God, sent His only begotten Son to give His life as ransom

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” - (John 3:16 KJV)
“For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.”- (Mark 10:45 KJV)

The Son of Man

Our Father our God, will judge no man; He reserves judgment of all of mankind to His only begotten Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He will be the eternal judge:

“For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.” - (John 5:22-23 KJV)

Hands of the Living God

Here we see that our Father and our God does not accept our sins, He created a place of eternal torment for the fallen angels and sinful man and because He is not a God of love but instead a God of mercy He sent us a Savior!

An all sufficient Savior who paid our sin debt in full; in whose blood our sins are washed. A Savior who we have a choice to accept or not to accept! Those who accept Him, will become a sheep in the flock of that “Great Shepherd“!

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” - (John 10:27-28 KJV)

For those who do not accept Him will fall into the hands of the Living God; for the writer of Hebrews reminds us that:

“It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” - (Hebrews 10:31 KJV)

Fitting words

We will end today with fitting words from the world’s wisest king; King Solomon, who stated in the last verse(s) of his book of Ecclesiastes:

"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil." - (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 KJV)
