If you are reading this today as a believer in Jesus Christ then you know that eternal life awaits you! It awaits all who have confessed and believed that Christ is Lord as our precious brother Paul and the precious disciple John states:

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” -
(Romans 10:9-10 KJV)
“And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” - (1 John 5:11-12 KJV)

Now, believer what did this gift cost you? As you ponder that, let’s take a look at what it cost our Christ.

His throne in the heavens

The one by which the world was formed would have to leave His throne: to come to this earth to pay our sin debt

“For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.” - (John 6:38 KJV)
“He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.” - (John 1:10 KJV)

All Sufficient Sacrifice

While on this earth, He would pay the all sufficient price! Choosing to lay down His life for the sins of the world!

“No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.” - (John 10:18 KJV)

In between these two events, He would be rejected by His friends and family, betrayed by one of His disciples, led like a lamb to the slaughter, inflicted and abused and left to die on a Cross.

His humiliation and death

A crown would be made and placed on His head to mock Him!

"And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe, And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands." - (John 19:2-3 KJV)

A crown that was not just placed but pressed down into His skull! The nails that hung Him to the Cross; where nailed through His flesh!

His Resurrection and our Hope

And when He died, He was removed and placed in a borrowed tomb!

“And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.” - (Matthew 27:59-60 KJV)

And just as He said; HE ROSE from that grave! WE as believers place our hope in the resurrection of our Christ!

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead," -
(1 Peter 1:3 KJV)

All of this is what our sin debt cost our Christ! And as you can see from reading all of this; our sin debt cost us nothing!

Never lose sight

Now let’s answer our opening question, what did the gift of eternal life cost you? The answer is simple, nothing! The price was paid for you; by the only one qualified to pay the price for sin!

Never lose sight of the price that He had to pay.

To the unbeliever

If you are reading this today, and you have not accepted Christ as Lord. Now is the time to confess and believe in Him.

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."-
(Romans 10:9-10 KJV)
