“I live for myself and I answer to nobody.”

-Steve McQueen

He was once considered one of the most popular actors of his time. At the height of his career he had all that one could want in this life. He could go where he wanted, do what he wanted and he had access to the best of everything. He is a man who lived a life categorized by the above quote.

This was Steve McQueen’s life until death came knocking at the door!

Early life

Steve McQueen would leave this life at the young age of fifty years old! His formative years and early adult years were not easy. He found his way to “stardom” the same way that many do! He became a well known star in his time and he lived his life the way that most stars do; with no regard for God!

Did you know, that history records that on the night of August 8th, 1969, Steve McQueen was supposed to attend a party at the house of Sharon Tate. Knowing what happened that night and how close he came to being there; stayed with Steve McQueen most of his days.

Regardless, this was still a man who in his own words claimed to Answer to nobody.” This was still a man who had a one way ticket on that roller-coaster that makes millions of trips to hell.

One regret

One day, McQueen realized that he had something that was incurable. His sickness did not care, that he was Steve McQueen and his money could not buy him any additional days on this earth. Around this time in his life, he was introduced to Christ.

Pairing being born again, to realizing that his time on this earth was running out: all Steve wanted was to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He shared Christ with the other cancer patients and finally he admitted his one regret in this life.

“My only regret in life was that I was not able to tell others about what Jesus Christ did for me.”

-Steve McQueen

The man who had lived his whole life saying he answered to nobody; had now realized that there is ONE that WE shall ALL answer too!

Redemption

If you look at Steve McQueen’s life, you see the life of a man who spent his days living in ungodliness and unholiness. You see a life lived by one who had never been taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And, to his account once he learned about Christ; he realized that this was who he had spent his whole life searching for!

When he realized that he needed Christ; he prayed and called upon the name of Jesus. And just as our Lord’s Word says:

"Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon." (Isaiah 55:7 KJV)

Though McQueen had wasted his life; in the end he was ultimately delivered by our Christ. He received that eternal pardon and redemption by the only one qualified to be called the Redeemer.

Tell others

In the two thousand twenty first year of our Lord; I write you today on behalf of Steve McQueen. To tell you what Jesus Christ did for him. What did our Christ do for Steve McQueen.

He made his sins as white as snow:

"Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool." (Isaiah 1:18 KJV)

Our Christ delivered Steve from the power of darkness:

"Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son" (Colossians 1:13 KJV)

And, He claimed Steve as being one of His own possession:

"Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works." (Titus 2:14 KJV)

This is what the KING of KINGS did for Steve McQueen!

No different

What our Christ did for Steve McQueen is no different from what He will do for anyone who will call upon His name. If you do not know Christ as Lord, repent, confess and believe in Him. For our precious brother Paul told us what to do, he states:

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:9-10 KJV)

Steve McQueen, called upon our Christ months before his time was up! He did not let his time run out; do not let your time run out!
