Jesus Christ, who is He? He is “The Word”; “The Word” that was with God at the foundation of the world.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.” (John 1:1-2 KJV)

Light and Life

He is “Life”! The “Life” that offers “Light” to ALL of mankind.

“All things were made by him; and without him nothing was not anything made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in the darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not” (John 1:3-5 KJV)
“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” (John 8:12 KJV)

He is the “Light” of the world; the “Light” that shines in the darkness. To come to Him means to walk out of darkness into light. To come to Him is to move from death to LIFE!

He was “God with us”

Who is He? “Immanuel” which means “God is with us”.

“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” (Isaiah 7:14 KJV)
“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” (Matthew 1:23 KJV)

He left His throne in the Heavens; to be with us! He came down to live with us and to give His life as a ransom for many!

“For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45 KJV)

The Man of Sorrows

He was “The Man of Sorrows”. The Man of Sorrows was:

“He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.” (Isaiah 53:3 KJV)

Jesus Christ was the “Man of Sorrows” for us!

He bore our sin:

Jesus Christ, who is He? He bore our sin and our shame:

“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.” (1 Peter 2:24 KJV)

On that Cross; He suffered shame and humiliation at the hands of the people that He was dying to save! He hung there with nails in His hands and feet; suffering in shame to bare our sin!

He paid our sin debt:

“For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.” (1 Corinthians 6:20 KJV)
“Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.” (1 Corinthians 7:23 KJV)
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8 KJV)

You can be the nicest person; give the most money; you can confess every Sunday to a man who can do nothing to save you. It doesn’t matter if you put all of the above together and hope really really hard that your sin debt would be satisfied by doing these things; it won’t!

Include whatever else you may be thinking of that you can do to save yourself from your sin(s): it will not work!

There is only one way to pay your sin debt; and it is He!

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believe unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10 KJV)

He died and He rose

Hanging there on the Cross; He died! He really died! And just as the scriptures prophesied; He rose!

“He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.”
(Matthew 28:6 KJV)

In His resurrection is our hope!

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,”
(1 Peter 1:3 KJV)

He is Hope

For as we believe that He died and rose from the dead; we believe that we too will rise to eternal life.

“For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.” (1 Thessalonians 4:14 KJV)
“But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.”
(1 Corinthians 15:20 KJV)

He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords

Jesus Christ, who is He? He is the King of Kings, He is the Lord of Lords!

“They will wage war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will triumph over them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings—and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.”
(Revelations 17:14 KJV)

He is the final judge; and will judge everyone from Adam; to you; to me! We must all stand at His judgment seat and give in account for the deeds done in the body.

No one gets around Him; gets through Him; can bargain with Him; can outsmart or outrun Him

“He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.” (Isaiah 42:4 KJV)
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that every one may receive the things done his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.” (2 Corinthians 5:10 KJV)

The Alpha and the Omega

Jesus Christ, who is He? He is:

“The Word”, “Life and Light”, He was “God with us”, He was “The Man of Sorrows”, who bore our sin and paid our sin debt. He rose from the dead, and in His resurrection is our “Hope”. He is the “King of Kings, the Lord of Lords” and… the “Alpha and the Omega”.

“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.” (Revelation 22:13 KJV)

What you did not see…

You will not find any of the following terms used to define Him: home-boy, superstar, a good man or some other prophet. And, He doesn’t “make bad men good men” or share His throne with anyone!

What you did see is…

Jesus Christ is, was and is to come!!!

“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” (Revelation 1:8 KJV)

Jesus Christ? Who is He?

The answer: Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.
