Reader, do you remember when the Lord told the precious prophet Ezekiel to eat the roll and go speak?

Do you remember that precious prophet Ezekiel?

You know, the book that many preachers will never preach from.

This precious old testament book contains many prophesies from the precious prophet.

The Word of the Lord came to the prophet and he was led to see many visions.

He was also sent to warn the people of God about their ungodliness, the wrath of God and he was given the title Watchman.

And, being an obedient child of God, the prophet did what the Lord told him to do.

How did he do it?

Like many children of God, the prophet Ezekiel was to be fearless!

 "And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house." 
(Ezekiel 2:6 KJV)

Then, he was given a special instruction!

The prophet was allowed to see a roll of a book that contained lamentations, mourning and woe.

"And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book was therein; And he spread it before me; and it was written within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe."
(Ezekiel 2:9-10 KJV)

EAT the ROLL

Then, the prophet was to eat the roll.

"Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel. So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll."
(Ezekiel 3:1-2 KJV)

And, go and speak to the house of Israel.

What we know

What do we know?

We know that the house of Israel in the old Testament represents the Lord’s people. And, today, the Lord’s people are those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.

But, what was the roll?

To the prophet Ezekiel the roll was the Lord’s warnings to His people. To us, the roll is the Lord’s Word.

Just as..

Just as the precious prophet was told to consume the Lord’s warnings and go speak!

Believers today, are to consume the Lord’s Word and go speak!

Go speak to a dying generation!

Go speak to a helplessly, hopeless world about the things of God.

You see nothing has changed!

Nothing has changed

The Lord reminded us many times that the prophet was going to speak to a rebellious people!

"And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house. And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they are most rebellious."
(Ezekiel 2:6-7 KJV)

The world today is the exact same way!

If you are a follower of the Lord’s you too have a responsibility. A responsibility to eat the roll and go speak!
