Today’s blog is a reminder of what happens to those who refuse to believe or obey the One True God.

King Nebuchadnezzar

No better example can be taken then from the book of Daniel. The precious prophet lived through many kings; all of which had to seek guidance from him.

Nebuchadnezzar was no different! He arose one morning, shaken by a dream he had in the early morning hours.

The dream revealed to Nebuchadnezzar the following:

"Thus were the visions of mine head in my bed; I saw, and behold a tree in the midst of the earth, and the height thereof was great. The tree grew, and was strong, and the height thereof reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to the end of all the earth: The leaves thereof were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all: the beasts of the field had shadow under it, and the fowls of the heaven dwelt in the boughs thereof, and all flesh was fed of it. I saw in the visions of my head upon my bed, and, behold, a watcher and an holy one came down from heaven; He cried aloud, and said thus, Hew down the tree, and cut off his branches, shake off his leaves, and scatter his fruit: let the beasts get away from under it, and the fowls from his branches. Nevertheless leave the stump of his roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts in the grass of the earth. Let his heart be changed from man's, and let a beast's heart be given unto him; and let seven times pass over him." (Daniel 4:10-16 KJV)

The precious prophet Daniel listened to this dream and after an hour provided an interpretation.

Interpretation

The precious prophet Daniel would reveal to Nebuchadnezzar what his dream was telling him.

Nebuchadnezzar saw himself driven out of his kingdom and led to live amongst the beasts of the fields for seven years.

"That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will." (Daniel 4:25 KJV)

In these seven years he would eat dirt, sop dew and roam with the beasts. And, this would be his LIFE until he confessed that the Most High God rules over ALL.

But, wait!!

What else did the prophet say?

Repent!

The prophet told Nebuchadnezzar that the Lord has offered you a chance to repent!

"Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity." (Daniel 4:27 KJV)

But, what did Nebuchadnezzar do?

He went on living!

For twelve months, as if the Word of the Lord had not been revealed to him!

Seven years

Twelve months would pass before Nebuchadnezzar would face his fate!

"The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles' feathers, and his nails like birds' claws." (Daniel 4:33 KJV)

Just as the Lord said; this man would walk with the beast.

For seven years, he would lay on his belly, inhaling dirt and making friends with animals.

Extolling God

It would be seven years before he would come to his sense and confess on the One True God!

"And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation: And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?" (Daniel 4:34-35 KJV)

As the Lord said, He would give Nebuchadnezzar his kingdom back.

And, Nebuchadnezzar would spend the rest of his life extolling the One True God!

"Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase." (Daniel 4:37 KJV)

He CHOSE

Here we have a King!

A man who has the best of all of things, lives in luxury, eats the best of foods, wears fine clothes, has an abundance of jewels and is regarded by man.

And, in order to keep this plush life he must:

Confess that none of it is his, repent of his life, live righteously, care for the poor and confess that there is only ONE TRUE GOD!

That is all that he had to do!

But, instead he CHOSE to roam with the beasts in the field for seven years!

He CHOSE to lay down in dirt, eat bugs and sop dew.

He CHOSE this life ALL because he would not repent!

Today

The truth is that generation after generation has produced millions of Nebuchadnezzar’s.

Men and women who live their lives knowing that they have ignored a warning from the Lord.

Then, when they are wallowing in filth, debaucheries and disgusting sin: they will act as if they have no idea why!

Repent, confess and believe

Reader, do not let this be you!

If you have heard a Word from the Lord; you know it!

Repent, confess and believe.

Just as in the precious prophet Daniel’s time; the One True God still reigns. The earth and it’s inhabitants belong to Him:

"The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods." (Psalm 24:1-2 KJV)

Repent, confess and believe.
