Today we will take a look at the “god of this world”. The one who hides out in the open, deceiving so many souls. As Paul reminds us in his second letter to Corinth; the “god of this world” blinds the minds of those who believe not in the Gospel of Jesus Christ:
“In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” - (2 Corinthians 4:4 KJV)
Question, who is the “god of this world”? The answer, Satan! Yes, Satan is real! Let’s turn to the Living Word of God and get the full story of this deceiver!
Satan
To get his full story we must go all the way back to the beginning! Satan, was a beautiful angel, an angel who thought that he would ascend above the throne of our Heavenly Father; he thought wrong! For the precious prophet Isaiah, records the account for us:
“How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.” - (Isaiah 14:12-14 KJV)
Fall as “Lightning”
During his uprising, he would gather one third of the angels and try to ascend the throne of our Heavenly Father; this would get him thrown down from heaven as lightning! As our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ states in His Gospel recorded by Luke:
“And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.”- (Luke 10:18 KJV)
We have all seen “lightning” and we know how fast lightning travels: this was how fast Satan was thrown down!
Hell created
His act would lead to the creation of hell; for our Heavenly Father created hell for Satan and all of the angels who followed him. As our Lord states in His Gospel recorded by Matthew:
“Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:”- (Matthew 25:41 KJV)
Also, recorded by the disciple Peter:
“For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;” - (2 Peter 2:4 KJV)
“god of this world”
Satan, thought that he would ascend the throne of our Heavenly Father, he would gather one third of the angels to help him with this, he would be immediately thrown from heaven and hell would be created for him and his angels! This is the story of the “god of this world”!
Let’s return to Paul’s warning in our verse for today:
“In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” - (2 Corinthians 4:4 KJV)
If Satan, could get one third of the angels to follow him then what do you think he can do to the minds of men! Remember, he persuaded those angels to follow him which led to them getting “thrown down” to hell which is the ending place for all who follow him!
The Judgment Seat of Jesus Christ
At the voice of the Son of God; all shall rise and face the eternal judge! Guess who else will be there! That is right, the “god of this world”! He too will have to see our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the end of his trail!
"And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever."- (Revelation 20:10 KJV)
"And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death." - (Revelation 20:14 KJV)
The difference between him and all of those whom he deceives; is that he sealed his fate along time ago and he knows it!

Returning for the last time to our verse for today but this time adding verse three:
“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” - (2 Corinthians 4:3-4 KJV)
If you are reading this today and you believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ; seek the lost. Look for every opportunity to share the Good news of the Gospel.
If you are reading this today and you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior; now is the time! Do not continue to be blinded by the “god of this world”; you see where those who follow him end up…. At the exact place where he will end up!
Confess and believe in the Son of Man; for as Paul states:
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." - (Romans 10:9-10 KJV)
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the only way to eternal life.
